This was actually worn, in its day, to the Inaugural Ball for former president, George H. W. Bush!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eFeatures a bodice of supple rayon velvet, with long sleeves which almost sit off the shoulder, and zip at the cuffs. The plunging v-neckline is elaborately covered with a fabulous, colorful bouquet of jewel toned flowers depicted in sequins and beading. This sits atop a backing of tan mesh, and the entire bodice is lined in black taffeta.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe magnificent skirt is made from volumes of gorgeous violet colored silk taffeta, with a beautiful surface shimmer. There is a built-in black tulle petticoat which has a separate hook-and-eye closure, and comprises three separate layers. The back of the skirt is wonderfully gathered, giving an almost bustle-like effect due to the built in petticoat. A wonderful nod to the 1940’s in its styling!
