1800s Silk Dress / Victorian Teal Silk Two-Piece Dress / Size Extra Extra Small

An absolutely remarkable set from the late 1800’s, beautifully designed and constructed, truly from another era. This two-piece dress is in nearly immaculate condition, remarkable given its age.

The top is wonderfully constructed, with extensive boning on the interior to give it its shape. Has full sleeves with hook-and-eye closures at wrists. There is a band of ruching around the upper arm, which lead to very voluminous puffed shoulders. Has a high stand collar with bows at each side, and a gathered front panel. Has interior hook and eye closures, then a separate panel which wraps across the bust and closes on the side with additional hook-and-eye closures. More bows and gathering adorn the waistband. The back has two pleats which come to a tapered point in the center of the back, and a lace panel below the neck. Lined in polished cotton.

The skirt is beautifully constructed as well, with an interior band which lies across the rear, drawing the skirt together in back and creating a beautiful bustle. Has a heavy hook and eye closure at waist, and is lined in polished cotton. A band of silk velvet circles the interior hem. All the edges on this garment are beautifully hand-finished to prevent fraying. An exceptional piece of fashion history!

Condition: Excellent vintage condition (tiny hole on right sleeves, some discoloration on left sleeve, which is very difficult to notice — some slight discoloration down the back seams. Overall, absolutely incredible given its age).
