1960s Jane Derby Dress / 60s Dress Set / Designer Dress / Wiggle Dress / Size Small

Early 1960s dress with a matching jacket in a lovely blue that's just shy of periwinkle. Short cap sleeve jacket with asymmetrical three button front and hidden snaps, with princess seaming and lined in blue silk. The main dress starts with a semi sheer bodice. At the under bust the textured cotton begins with a wide fitted band to the waist where there are tiny gathers near the sides to allow for the hips and make the waist seem smaller. Two hidden side pockets add to the curve and the rest of the skirt has a very slight flare. With a flat seamed back, the skirt is lined in silk organdy. Back metal zipper. Beautifully finished interior seams and hand stitching throughout.

According to the Vintage Fashion Guild, Jane Derby was "known as a top-of-the-line, ready-to-wear designer". It is possible Oscar de la Renta, who worked for Jane Derby in the early 60s, had a hand in the design of this very special dress.

The jacket fits comfortably over the dress and is meant to be larger at its' hem to emphasize the slim line of the dress.
