Naso Peste Plague Doctor

Naso Peste, or the Plague Doctor. A plague doctor was a medical physician who treated victims of the bubonic plague, and wore a beak-like mask which was filled with aromatic items. The masks were designed to protect them from putrid air, which was seen as the cause of infection.  Hand-painted with a natural wash.

Made of papier mache. Tie ribbon holds it in place. One size fits most.

Our Venetian masks are handmade in Venice, Italy by a family that has been making these masks for a generation.
